Congratulations to the Houston Astros

I would like to start off by congratulating the Houston Astros on winning their very first ever World Series in franchise history. They truly proved the Houston is strong and built up the morale of a team and a city at the same time. 

I have to say in spite of all of that I didn't really want them to win. Not just cause they beat the Red Sox (which didn't help) but I really wanted to see the Dodgers win. I have family members who are die-hard Dodgers fans and if the Red Sox and Cubs couldn't win, the Dodgers were my 3rd choice. I feel like their team has a lot more veterans and this year was their year since players like Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner getting up there in age. 

Still, this Astros team who won game 7, lead by Lance McCullers was the most talented team in baseball and truly deserved to win it all. They have plenty of young talent in Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve, George Springer, and Carlos Correa that they can build a team that could maybe make it past the World Series hangover and win 2 in a row, but they also have enough veteran players like Carlos Beltran and Justin Verlander, who both were able to get their first rings this year. 

Like I said, Altuve has an incredible amount of talent and should be the 2017 AL MVP. The 27-year old has been in the Astros organization since he was 17 and has shown incredible devotion to the club since his debut back in 2011. He may be 5'5", but his speed along with power and ability to get clutch hits is what helps him stand-out above most any other MLB player. He'll be a free agent after next year, and the Altuve sweepstakes are going to be intense. I just hope he shows the devotion to the Astros that he has over the last decade and stays with them.

But there was another ring earned last night as Carlos Correa proposed to his girlfriend and Ms. USA Texas Daniella Rodriguez. Correa has been an intricate part of this team, bringing a balance of power and defense to the already star-studded team. It's hard to believe this talented guy is only 23 years old. It seems like he's been around a lot longer, and I'm certain he has a lot more to give.

And yes there were great series performances by players like Yuli Gurriel and Justin Verlander, but no one stole the show more than George Springer. He hit 5 home runs in this series and earned the honor of winning World Series MVP. The former #1 pick back in 2011 had a break out season this year and judging by his performance I don't think he's done. 

But honestly, no one helped the Astros win the World Series more than a guy who's not even an Astro. His name is Yu Darvish and he cost the Dodgers not one but two World Series games. I don't think that makes the Dodgers want to bring him back.

Well, now that the baseball season is officially over, it's time for the offseason. I will be checking MLB daily for trades, signings, and more.

And for the 29 teams who weren't as fortunate as Houston this year, there's an old saying in baseball.

There's always next year.
