200th Post Giveaway

In September of 2011, Tim Wakefield won his 200th and final career MLB game, becoming 1 of just 3 players to finish their careers with exactly 200 wins.

Today, on April 18th, 2018, I write my 200th post here on Cardboard Greats. I'm certainly glad to reach the accomplishment, but I'm even more excited to see what's to come in the future 200 posts and the 200 after that. But to be honest with you, I never thought I'd even have a blog, let alone be dedicated to it and post nearly every day for 8 months and counting.

I began this blog on August 12th, 2017 on a beautiful summer day. I had just got home from the card shop where I picked up some National Baseball Card Day packs. I had thought about starting a blog for years, but I felt that I lacked the dedication to post regularly on it. The last thing I wanted to do was begin blogging, lost interest, and stop it all together. I wouldn't let myself do that.

Going back to that day, I began scanning pictures of the cards just for the heck of it and cropping them just to see how long I'd last. But then, I got serious and actually began thinking about names for the blog. And after ironing out a few kinks, taking a while to write, I published my first ever post later that afternoon, not expecting much to come from it.

What happened after that was unbelievable. I got my first views, comments, followers, and began trading with multiple bloggers. Now, 200 posts later, and almost 10,000 views since that day, I'm truly grateful to everyone who has taken time from their day to see what crazy new baseball card idea, post, or haul I have this time.

To celebrate this, I've decided to have a 200th post giveaway where I will be giving away 50 cards to the winner plus a bonus relic or autograph from the favorite team of whoever is last on the randomized list. Some of the 50 cards included in the giveaway are included here. They include some vintage, some modern, along with cards from packs I've opened along with doubles from insert sets and cards of players I don't collect like Tony Gwynn and Willie Horton.

TO ENTER the contest to win the stack of cards above, simply leave a comment on this post. It can say anything you want, though make sure to include your favorite team. Therefore, I'll know what team to look for when sending out the "last place" prize of a relic or autograph from your favorite team. The list will be randomized 5 times and the deadline to enter is a week from today on April 25th, 2018 at 6:00 PM Eastern time.

Once again, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped me along this journey over the last 8 months. It's been amazing to have a group of people who I can share all sorts of baseball cards from my collection along with new cards, thoughts, ideas, and dozens of other ideas about the topic of baseball, specifically, baseball cards. I'm very happy to have reached 200 posts and am excited about the hundreds more to come.

Thank you

Henry Blanchette

  1. Congrats on your 200th post! I've been blogging more than twice as long, but I only have half as many posts. Now I feel like a slacker! Also, your blog and I share the same birthday.

    Go Sox!

  3. You don't have to enter me, but congratulations on the milestone! I've been running a card blog since November 2014 and only hit 500 posts a few weeks ago. You're on pace to pass me in post total next year or maybe even later this year.

  9. Congrats on #200, Henry! It appears I'm one of your more recent blog followers and I also follow your Twitter. I also checked my (relatively new) hobby blog http://stadiumfantasium.com/ to make sure your blog is on my blogroll (it was!). Keep up the great work! Thanks for the contest (Dodgers)!
